Innov’action Bamako met the spotlight on ICT innovation in Mali

Indeed, it was the festival of innovation in Mali this Sunday, December 18, 2016 a date that will remain etched in the memories. With Innov’action Bamako, Donilab has just signed Mali on the digital map in Africa. For two days, participants from all over Bamako and surrounding areas have participated massively in activities in a rotating way to allow everyone to learn, presente and especially to know each other and network to innovate together for Mali. On the agenda a workshop on blogging led by the community Doniblog which allowed participants to understand the blogger’s place in the peace process initiated by the Malian government. Then the Women Techmakers community sensitized women and men on the ownership of technologies by women. The Fablab workshop led by Hank Debey was the star workshop because it gave participants the opportunity to discover a 3D printer and even to model and print objects of all kinds in 3D. The participants also learned how to prepare a pitch through a business canvas and finally a hackathon allowed 6 preselected projects to compete during the closing ceremony whose winners are:

– 1st Applitude; an application that allows to follow courses online

– 2nd Saniféré; an online sales platform

– 3rd smart card; a system of securing gear (motorcycle and / or car) through an electronic chip.

All the teams benefited from mentoring and training of trainers from the sub-region including Burkina Faso, Senegal and Côte d’Ivoire.

The United States Embassy in Mali, which supported this event on its own, did not fail to express its satisfaction with the Donilab team and all the participants.
